Dr. XIE Zheng, deputy director of Department of Global Health, has held a position at School of Public Health, Peking University since 2007. She was seconded to WHO Department of Ageing and Life Course as technical officer from June 2018 to June 2019. She has published widely in both English and Chinese on peer-reviewed journals. She has authored more than 70 papers (including 35 first author or corresponding author) and 3 books. She acted as Principle Investigator of various projects funded by China National Science Foundation, Ministry of Education, China Medical Board and National Health Commission. As key participants, she was deeply involved in the DFID Global Health Support Programme (GHSP), China-Australia Integrated Health and HIV/AIDS Programme and China-UK Health Support Programme. Dr. Xie represented China to attend the consultations of WHO’s Framework of Engagement with Non-State Actors (FENSA). She was a member of WHO Working Group on Reform representing Western Pacific Region.

She also holds the following membership of academic associations:

Member of Global Health Branch of Chinese Preventive Medical Association; Youth Member of Social Medicine Branch of Chinese Preventive Medical Association; Youth Member of Health Management Branch of Chinese Preventive Medical Association; Member of Medical Security Committee of Chinese Social Security Society; Member of Health Management Branch of Beijing Medical Association.

Main research directions

1. Global health governance, with a focus on the governance and management mechanism of global health actors, including WHO’s engagement with non-State Actors and WHO governance reform.

2. Health development assistance, with a focus on the management mechanism of international health development assistance, the evaluation of China’s health aid projects, the evaluation of international health assistance projects in China.

3. Health policy and system, with a focus on the organisation and provide of health services and health seeking behavior.
