Yan Wang was graduated from Beijing Medical University with a degree of bachelor of medicine in 1982 then with a degree of master of medicine major on biostatistics and demography in 1985, and finally got a degree of doctor of public health (DrPH) in Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Heath of USA in 1994.

Yan Wang is a professor and former chair-person of the department, she has spent near 30 years in teaching on biostatistics or demography and maternal & child health. She has supervised about 60 master or PhD students. And as a principle investigator, has conducted about 30 research projects on maternal and child health, also has published over 160 scientific papers in national or international Journals.
