Department of Maternal and Child Health


The Department of Maternal and Child Health has been committed to improving women and child health since its establishment. The department has long been involved in teaching, research and social service related to women and child health. Major research interests include the epidemiological characteristics, influencing factors and intervention measures of health problems among children and women at different times, and maternal and child health information. The department became the candidate of Key National Discipline of China in 2007. And in 2008 it was sanctioned as the Key Discipline in Beijing.


Staff

There are 12 personnel in the department of Child, Adolescent and Women’s Health, including 4 professors, 2 associate professors, 1 assistant Professor, 4 lecturers and 1 technician.

Wang, Hai-Jun: Director of the Department, professor, supervisor of doctoral students.

Major research interests: Child growth and development, Obesity Epidemiology, Environment and maternal or child health

Wang, Yan: Professor, supervisor of doctoral students. 

Major research interests: Epidemiology of Child and Women’s health

An, Lin: Professor, supervisor of master students. 

Major research interests: Maternal and child health and determinants, maternal and child health information, Human resources of maternal and child health

Wang, Xiao-Li: Deputy director of the Department, professor, supervisor of doctoral students. 

Major research interests: Early childhood development, Perinatal women's psychology and behavior

Zhang Jing-Xv: Associate professor, supervisor of master students. 

Major research interests: Environment and maternal and child health, Child growth and development

Zhou Hong: Deputy director of the Department, associate professor, supervisor of master students. 

Major researchinterests: Maternal and child health, Program evaluation on maternal and child health

Zhou QianLing: Assistant Professor, supervisor of doctoral students. 

Major researchinterests: Maternal and Child Nutrition, Infant feeding, Health Behaviour Research, Health Education and Promotion

Major responsibility: To support teaching activities and management of scientific research

Graduate Students

The department enrolls 2-3 doctoral students and 6-8 master students each year. Until now, more than 100 Ph.D. graduates and masters have graduated from the department.


Scientific Research

The department received research funding from a wide variety of sources including Ministry of Science and Technology, National Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education, National Health and Family Planning Commission, UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA, CMB, etc.

2. Development and evaluation of intervention technology for overweight and obesity in children based on schools, funded by National key research and development plan, 2016-2020

3. Integrated maternal and child health program in middle and western China, UNICEF, 2016-2020

4. Population study on the effects of BDNF-SH2B1-MAPK pathway genes and dietary behavior on childhood obesity and functional studies, funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 2016-2019

5. The study of relationship between brain executive function and the sialic acid level in premature infants, funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 2013-2015
