Nutrition and Functional Food Assessment Center of Peking University

Nutrition and Functional Food Assessment Center of Peking University was established in 1997, affiliated to Peking University School of Public Health. The center is one of the first batch of health food inspection agencies identified by the Ministry of Health. Professor Weidong Hao is the center director.

The center obtained laboratory accreditation (measurement certification) and qualification for food inspection agencies from the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China. It is qualified to evaluate the safety of food, chemicals and pesticides and evaluate the efficacy of functional food. The center carries out and undertakes safety evaluation, research and development projects for food, functional food and chemicals, and also carries out consulting and training business related to nutrition, food hygiene and toxicology.

The center has 23 staff, including 11 senior titles. The center has a toxicology laboratory, a nutrition and efficacy evaluation laboratory, and a laboratory animal center.

In recent years, the center has completed more than 200 functional tests and over 500 toxicological tests of food and functional food. The center also conducted cooperation research projects with Ausnutria, Nestle, Roche, Jing Brand Co., Ltd., and Quan Jian Group.
