Department of Toxicology

Weidong Hao, Chair and Professor
The Department was originally the teaching and research division of toxicology which was founded in 1983 in department of health. The department was set up in the year 2000. Current director is Professor Weidong Hao. It was authorized by National Education Council to offer Master degrees in 1983 and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 1997. The department was the division of the Pharmacology National Key Discipline of Peking University from 2001. Now two key laboratories attached to the department. They are Beijing Key Laboratory of Toxicological Research and Risk Assessment for Food Safety and Compatibility Attenuation Key Laboratory of National Administration of TCM. 

There are 12 faculty and staff members in the department including 3 professors and 2 associate professors.

Scientific Research
The major research fields of the Department are Molecular toxicology, Cellular toxicology, Organic and systemic toxicology, Health (environmental, food and industrial) toxicology, Drug toxicology and Regulatory toxicology.
The research programs are funded by a wide variety of sources including, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Ministry of Education, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and so on.
